Connect Payroo to the ATO (STP Setup)
Employers reporting Single Touch Payroll (STP) through Payroo must notify the ATO of their unique Software ID by 30 June 2026. Without this one-time registration, STP lodgements may be rejected by the ATO and your employees' YTD figures won't flow through to their myGov/ATO records.
To start reporting payroll through Single Touch Payroll (STP), you need to connect your Payroo account with the ATO by nominating Payroo as your STP software.
This is a one-time setup and only takes 2 minutes.
Step 1: Find Your Software ID
Your Software ID is a unique identifier required by the ATO to link your business with Payroo.
Steps:
Log in to Payroo
Go to Settings
Select ATO
Click on ATO Connection
Review Organisation Details
Click Next
Here, you’ll find your Software ID. Keep this handy for the next step.

Click Save to complete
Once confirmed, click the I've notified ATO button at Payroo.
Method 2: Notify via Phone
You can also contact the ATO directly.
Steps:
Get your Software ID from Payroo

FAQ
1. What is a Sending Service Provider (SSP)?
An SSP is the ATO-accredited gateway that transmits STP pay event data from payroll software to the ATO over the Standard Business Reporting (SBR) channel.
Q2. Why do I need to register with the ATO before running payroll?
Notifying the ATO of your SSP's Software ID is a mandatory compliance step. If you skip it, your STP reports will be rejected or never received after 30 June 2026, meaning your employees' YTD data won't flow through to myGov/ATO records.
Q3. Who is Payroo's SSP?
Payroo uses Ozedi (OZEDI HOLDINGS PTY LTD, ABN 47 167 142 672) as its long-term SSP partner. All STP lodgements from Payroo are routed through Ozedi.
Q4. Where do I find my Software ID?
In Payroo, navigate to Settings → ATO → ATO Connection. Your unique Software ID is listed there.
Q5. Do I register Payroo or Ozedi with the ATO?
You register Ozedi as your hosted SBR software service (because Ozedi is the SSP actually sending the file). The Software ID you provide is the one issued inside Payroo.
Q6. What if I'm a registered tax/BAS agent lodging on behalf of a client?
The entity that submits the STP pay event must notify the ATO of the Software ID in Access Manager. Agents lodging STP on behalf of an employer will need to complete the notification for that client.
Q7. Is there a deadline for notifying the ATO?
The ATO has indicated notifications should be completed no later than 30 June 2026 for anyone currently reporting through an SSP. Best practice: complete it before your first STP submission to avoid failed lodgements.
Q8. Can I notify the ATO by phone instead of online?
Yes, call the ATO on 1300 85 22 32, ask to nominate "OZEDI HOLDINGS PTY LTD" as your STP software, and provide your Payroo Software ID.
Q9. What happens if I change payroll software later?
You'll need to notify the ATO of the new Software ID (and, if different, the new SSP). The old nomination can be removed in Access Manager.
Q10. My STP submission is failing for submissions after 30 June 2026, could this be the cause?
Yes. One of the most common causes of STP lodgement failures is that the Software ID was never notified to the ATO, or it was entered incorrectly. Double-check that the Software ID registered in Access Manager exactly matches the one shown in Payroo.
