Before you begin, ensure you are eligible and enrol to JobKeeper by logging in to the ATO Business Portal.
If you haven't enrolled yet, then click on the button below to enrol now!
Once enrolled, send 'Employee Nomination Notice' to all your eligible employees to complete and return to you before you pay JobKeeper to the employee. JobKeeper Employee Nomination Notice form can be found by clicking on the button below.
After you've registered and notified your eligible employees, there are three simple notifications that need to be reported to the ATO (#1 is a mandatory notification and #2 & #3 are only valid under certain conditions):
JOBKEEPER-START: This once-off notification is applicable for ALL eligible employers. JobKeeper start will let ATO know from when you'd like the JobKeeper payments to start for your employee.
JOBKEEPER-TOPUP: This notification is only valid for employees that get paid less than allocated amount per fortnight.
JOBKEEPER-FINISH: This once-off notification is only valid if you need to stop JobKeeper payments before March 2021. The ineligibility may be due to, workers’ compensation absence, cessation of employment and change of citizenship, visa, personal circumstances.
JobKeeper has been extended until March 2021 from end of September 2020 but with below rules, these rules only apply after September 2020:
Eligible staff that worked 20 hours or more each week in February will be eligible for the higher tier, while those that worked less than this threshold are eligible for the lower tier of payments.
The higher tier will need to pay $1,200 a fortnight until January 3, 2021. It will then reduce to $1,000 a fortnight until the program ends on March 28, 2021.
The lower tier will need to pay $750 a fortnight until January 3, 2021. It will then reduce to $650 a fortnight until the program ends on March 28, 2021.
You will have to create a new pay run to file or revert last filed pay run to update and follow below steps to notify ATO through Payroo JobKeeper:
1. NOTIFYING JOBKEEPER-START (applicable for ALL eligible employers)
Step 1: Before publishing your next pay run, in the "Allowance" section, click on the "+ ADD MORE" button
Step 2: Depending on the "Dates" applicable for employee's JOBKEEPER-START (refer to the table below) i.e. pay run "Payment Date" date (exception for April 2020 monthly pay runs), type the associated FN code in the "Name" field to select the relevant "Allowance Description" (refer to the table below). Ensure you are selecting "JOBKEEPER-START-FNXX" as both start and finish have the same FN code.
Note: "Amount" field for JOBKEEPER-START should always remain as '0', this allowance entry is only notifying ATO of the applicable dates.
Also, JOBKEEPER-START is only required to be reported to the ATO once, so if you file a pay run with the applicable start dates you don't have to do it again!
It doesn't matter if you do weekly, fortnightly, monthly or any other frequency pay runs, pick the fortnight which applies to the pay day.

From 4th May 2020, apply to claim the JobKeeper payment by logging in to the ATO Business Portal and to re-confirm eligibility for JobKeeper before 14th of every month. For Agents and Individuals, you'll have to claim and re-confirm through ATO Online Services.
Each month, you will need to reconfirm that your reported eligible employees have not changed through ATO online services, the Business Portal or via your registered tax agent. This will ensure you will continue to receive the JobKeeper payments from the ATO. You do not need to retest your reported fall in turnover, but you will need to provide some information as to your current and projected turnover. This will be done in your monthly JobKeeper Declaration report. For more information refer to Enrol and apply for the JobKeeper payment article from ATO and visit https://www.ato.gov.au/General/JobKeeper-Payment/In-detail/JobKeeper-guide---employers-reporting-through-STP/.
