JobKeeper Checklist for Employers

This is a summary checklist to ensure you are on track with JobKeeper!

Under the JobKeeper Payment, businesses impacted by the coronavirus will be able to access a subsidy from the Government to continue paying their employees. Affected employers will be able to claim a fortnightly payment of $1,500 per eligible employee from 30 March 2020, for a maximum period of 6 months.

After 6 months, JobKeeper has been extended until March 2021 but with below rules

  • Eligible staff that worked 20 hours or more each week in February will be eligible for the higher tier, while those that worked less than this threshold are eligible for the lower tier of payments.

  • The higher tier will pay $1,200 a fortnight until January 3, 2021. It will then reduce to $1,000 a fortnight until the program ends on March 28, 2021.

  • The lower tier will pay $750 a fortnight until January 3, 2021. It will then reduce to $650 a fortnight until the program ends on March 28, 2021.

We've created a JobKeeper checklist for employers who need to know how they can apply and claim these payments with key dates below:

BEFORE 8TH MAY 2020: ON-GOING PER PAY RUN

  1. Enrol to JobKeeper by logging in to the ATO Business Portal - This has now been extended to May 31st 2020

  2. Send Employee Nomination Notice to eligible employees and ask them to return to you before you claim JobKeeper for the employee. 

  3. Through Payroo, notify ATO of JOBKEEPER-START before 8th May for April 2020 pay period

  4. Through Payroo, notify ATO of JOBKEEPER-START, JOBKEEPER-TOPUP and JOBKEEPER-FINISH as applicable for all eligible employees per pay run

ON-GOING EVERY MONTH BEFORE 14th OF NEXT MONTH

  1. Apply to claim the JobKeeper payment by logging in to the ATO Business Portal and to re-confirm eligibility for JobKeeper every month before 14th of next month. For Agents and Individuals, you'll have to claim and re-confirm through ATO Online Services.
