Submit STP on Behalf of Your Client as a Registered Tax or BAS Agent

Written by Akbar

Registered Tax Agents and BAS Agents can lodge STP on behalf of their clients through Payroo.

Before lodging STP, ensure:

  • The client's business has been created in Payroo.

  • The client is linked to your practice in ATO Online Services for Agents.

Step 1 – Configure Your Tax Agent Details

Open the client's organisation in Payroo and navigate to:

Settings → ATO → ATO Connection

  1. Under Review Organisation Details, select Tax Agent.

  2. Enter the following details:

    • Authorised Agent Name

    • Agent Firm ABN

    • Agent Identifier Type (TAN or RAN)

    • Agent Number

    • Email

    • Phone

    • Firm Address (optional)

  3. Click Save.

  4. Click Next.

Payroo will generate a unique Software ID (SSID) for this client.

Note: If the Software ID doesn't appear immediately, wait a few seconds and refresh the page.

Step 2 – Notify the ATO of the Software ID

Important: Before notifying the ATO of the Software ID, make sure the client has authorised your practice and is linked to your practice in ATO Online Services for Agents. The ATO will not accept STP lodgments from a registered Tax or BAS Agent unless the agent is linked to the client in ATO systems.

Refer to the link for more details

Use the generated Software ID (SSID) to notify the ATO.

Option 1 – Access Manager

  1. Log in to ATO Access Manager.

  2. Select My hosted SBR software services.

  3. Click Notify the ATO of your hosted service.

  4. Search for OZEDI HOLDINGS PTY LTD or ABN 47 167 142 672.

  5. Select the provider.

  6. Enter the generated Software ID (SSID).

  7. Click Save.

Option 2 – Contact the ATO

Call 1300 85 22 32 and provide:

  • Software Provider: OZEDI HOLDINGS PTY LTD

  • Provider ABN: 47 167 142 672

  • Software ID (SSID)

Step 3 – Confirm the Registration

After registering the Software ID with the ATO:

  1. Return to Settings → ATO → ATO Connection.

  2. Click Confirm ATO Notification.

  3. Click I Understand.

Note: This confirms you've completed the SSID registration. It does not validate the registration with the ATO.

You're Ready to Lodge STP

Once the Software ID has been registered and confirmed, you can lodge STP reports for your client through Payroo.

If STP submissions continue to fail, verify that:

  • The Software ID has been registered against the correct client.

  • The client is linked to your practice in ATO Online services for agents.

  • The correct TAN or RAN has been entered in Payroo.
